Key fob question

Just purchased a demo 2013 328i. Dealer misplaced 2nd key so they ordered me a new one. Upon playing with my new car, I realized the trunk release button on the key fob also unlocks all the doors. I thought this was odd because my e90 never behaved like that. I searched all options in the iDrive menu but I do not see anywhere to change this behavior and so I thought it was the new norm.

I just got my new key from dealer and once programmed I discovered the trunk release button on this new fob simply pops the trunk and leaves the doors locked as it should. Does anyone know how to change the behavior on my other key? Many thanks.

I've never seen the trunk release button unlock the doors before. Go into Settings in the idrive menu then scroll down to door locks and you can change different settings there but not make the trunk button unlock your doors

??? Let make sure I am reading this correctly...

  • The first key fob unlocks the trunk and doors
  • The new key fob unlocks the trunk and leaves the doors unlocked.
Based on those two observations, why do you think the two key fobs behave differently? I don't see any indication that they do or don't.

Hey thanks. I edited my post. The second fob keeps the doors locked. It does not unlock the doors when pressing the trunk release.

I do not see any option in iDrive.
