Custom Fog Lights?
Alright so I got a rep M3 bumper on my 335. In doing so, I did an existing fog light delete because 1, I didn't like the look and 2, it seemed to block air flow to the brakes and oil cooler.
That being said, I would like to do some sort of custom fog light strip that will be a little different, but more importantly will get rid of the damn chime I hear every day when the car feels the need to tell me a light is out. In looking I've found the strips but everything looks cheap to me because they are all made up of little tiny bulbs. Is there something that is like the angel eyes? where the light strip is actually a continuous piece rather than a bunch of bulbs? I attached an image of what I am trying to do- forgive the crude photoshop skills. Love for some feedback. Thanks! |

Fiber optics or high output LEDs shining into a plastic tube would probably do it. You're going for more of a Tron type line vs Audi right?

Haha yeah that's a good way to put it. I basically want it to OUTLINE the opening of the M bumper ducts rather than FILL it like a typical fog. I'm not 100% on that particular arrangement I posted but the concept of outlining is the same.
Tell me more about your method of fiber optics or LEDs and plastic tubing! Has this been done? And more specifically, can the tube and lighting arrangement be shaped to fit the idea I want to implement? Last edited by driving_impaired; 06-12-2013 at 08:29 AM.. |
