M3DSC job executes succesfully, variable doesn't change?

NCSExpert 4.0.1/daten 49/Ediabas 7.3.0

I read the M3DSC module successfully, change the FSC file extension to MAN, edit MDYNAMIC_MODE_USA from activ to nicht_activ, save and execute the job. Seems to complete successfully with no errors:

Turn off everything, restart the car in ignition mode, read the module and the variable is back to activ.

Not sure how to troubleshoot that, any ideas?

" change the FSC file extension to MAN"

It is wrong, you need to create EMPTY FSW_PSW.MAN in WORK folder, then read out your module, then copy FSW_PSW.TRC to your desktop (e.g.), edit it there, change the extension to MAN and copy to wrok folder (replace with existing empy MAN. So basically FSW_PSW.TRC must be in WORK folder all the time, you can't just change his extension in WORK folder.
