Auto or Manual Trans Failures on boosted e46
Does anyone know of any premature failures on boosted e46/e36 cars? It might also be helpful to know if the e46/e36 M3 transmissions had premature problems with tuned motors.

E46 auto trannies were known to fail even when stock.
As far as auto is concerned, the 335i auto is nothing like the auto that was found in the e36 or e46

My e46 m3 tranny failed at 53k and cost me $9000.00 out of pocked to fix.
I had a Gruppe M intake/Dinan Exhaust/straight midpipes/clutch fan delete/cdv mod. |

My E46 330ci Steptronic is on its 3rd tranny!
IMO the E46 has the worst auto tranny out there. Total crap. I have 123K on my 330ci, and on my 3rd steptronic. All stock, no mods and car babied so much it still runs like new. Except for the tranny ofcourse.

you can even wear out an auto tranny with bad driving habits. if you've gone through three, its probably not the car... |

LOTS of E46 M3's out there SC'ed with no tranny issues. Thats anywhere from 440-550+ hp. No common issues I know of. Some still use the stock clutch.
There are also a car or two with 600whp+ with no issues I'm aware. That goes for both manual and smg (basically the exact same tranny). |

i figured like the other 3 cars ive owned that made over 500 hp that all i would have to do is replace the clutch. and these german getregs are some of the best trans on the market. imo. are there clutch kits yet for the e92 6mt?

For the 335, the only talk of a clutch upgrade that I heard of was from UUC a few months back, but I haven't heard anything since.
