Is this an error?

Okay so last night me and Vinod (vbmw335) are just driving around town doing 1/4 mile pulls and checking out the results on my Gtech SS. It was 65 degrees here in Chicago. I was consistantly getting 0-60mph times of 4.3's-4.5's and 1/4 miles in the 12.8's-13.0's and trapping in the 108's and 109s. That pretty fast i thought...

So Im doing the last run of the night and I launch it perfectly, I dont know what I did but during shifting from 1st gear into 2nd I hear a loud banging noise come from behind me and I keep going, it sounded like my transmission fell out of my car. Anyways I keep going and Im at about 115mph I notice that the 1/4 mile indicator light hasnt come on yet so I keep pushing it anyway and then it comes on. I stop and it reads 0-60 in 4.08 and 1/4 in 12.27. Im like no way thats possible, but I have seen guys run into the 12.5's-12.6s on the track with the same set up as me so is it possible? if not what could have caused this error? Im not trying to bs anyone but just curious to know what happened? I have the run on video but didnt want to load it if the Gtech is reading wrong. oh then the next run I go into limp-mode, go figure. Im running Nitto Dr's and Procede V1.47.

dont want to get flamed but im new at all this and I see people posting their gtech runs on here so im wondering if it is accurate or how much of a varience is there.

If you have a manual transmission you most likely tried to shift too quickly and managed to get the shift in while almost completly letting go of the clutch. so you heard this big clash noise in your transmission. Sometimes When i try and shift way too quickly in my 6MT I'll miss the shift and a huge clank/metal-hitting noise will come from the transmission. Chances are you got the shift off just in time in relation to letting go of the clutch- so the shift got in but still made that huge clanking noise coming from the transmission. For the record, my gtech once recorded a 0-60 of 4.3 and 12.5@116mph.

I have a step, I was using the +/- where you can shift yourself. The clunk noise was what you described. Scared me a bit, but seems to be driving fine for now, Limp mode went away after restart.

All the threads about max torque ratings on the steptronic being something like 332lb-ft, and now this... is scaring me!

Based on the accuracy of GTECH meter on the website your worst case is

http://www.gtechpro.com/accuracy.html

0-60 : 4.08+.2 = 4.28
¼ mile ET 12.27 +.01 = 12.28

That is still one heck of a run.It was great fun…Procede rocks!

Not to scare you, but since you're not stock anymore, no telling whether the constant beating & at much higher torque/hp output levels then stock didn't do something to the trans.

Leave off her for a while, see if she shifts normal in D, DS and Manual modes. If everything seems Kosher, you're probably fine. If some other "not kosher" things occur, yank off Procede, take it to your dealer, and rethink putting it back on. That is where us AT guys are screwed-----if the mods fuck our trans, we're out A LOT OF MONEY. If the MT guys bust up their trans, much cheaper to fix the stuff that would break.

I saw it happen ...that's why we are still in a state of disbelief.. But then again there are several variables which might help him achieve those numbers ..like what if his car is fast to start with even in stock version. Maybe like hotrod's car...unfortunately we dont have dyno # 's .

Also remember he had a ~150 lbs passenger in his car shooting the video .

A few months ago my AT tranny got stuck in 3rd gear... some kind of tranny limp mode i think... but it was after some dyno runs... not sure if that matters. A restart cured it
