F30 Boot Lid
Hi folks.
Quick question on your boot. Is it moving from side to side/play when open.? Noticed it today when cleaning the motor. When the lid was open i was cleaning of excess water when i noticed, when holding it, that it moved from side to side, as if being slack. Before i kick up with my dealer, is this normal. Maybe no one has noticed yet. That's one off the most recent faults i have come across recently after nearly two months ownership. Strong oil smell coming from, possibly the clutch, only happens now & again. Any thoughts before i go to my stealership.  Thanks in advance. |

Is the strong oil smell a DPF regen? - mine did the same for the first few thousand miles and it was the DPF re-genning.
The engine and exhaust system get very hot during the regen and this burns off the excess manufacturing oil films on the components. |

No play on my boot lid. Owned nearly 1 year and no issues with any component of the car.
Do have to get the rusty seat bases done though! |

It's a petrol engine. No DPF. Probably some oil has leaked & is burning off. It could possibly be coming from another motor, as was sitting in traffic with the window down. Will need to keep an eye on it, so to speak.  |
