Help with INPA

Ok, I had all of the coding software setup on my laptop last year and successfully coded my 335i. I tried to code my buddy's 135i this week and am having issues. I installed a fresh install of XP on the laptop and downloaded the software along win the V49 daten file. I've gotten INPA to read the cable and the car now with the two black dots but I'm getting an error that says "versions do not match" any ideas? I have 2 buddies that need their cars coded along with the Alpina trans flash and i really need to get this setup correctly. Coding was easy when I did it last year and so was setting up the software. not sure what the issue is this time.

It is not an issue. All is fine, just ignore this. When you click ok it should go through and INPA should work fine.

Anyway why you need working INPA to do Alpina flash? You can read ZB number using WinKfp also.

Which version of software do you use?
Did you update SP-DATEN?

This is what my INPA screen looks like after installing the tool kit. I haven't updated daten files yet. Is this normal? I got the 2 black dots and the cable isn't even plugged in yet?

Depends on your cable, some cheap cables are modified to fake the ignition signal from the car.

Some of the better manufactured cables use real ignition/voltage detection.

BMW Standard Tools doesn't come with the INPA scripts. You have to load those separately, once you do that, you'll see all the models.

There's really nothing newer in all english than the old referent_2006 package that's floating around.

Now it's been while since I've used INPA (I have a full ISTA+ICOM setup now), but if I remember correctly, if you already have INPA setup and installed on your laptop, just backup the CFGDAT folder and copy into the INPA directory after you've installed Standard Tools 2.12.
