VP Racing MB 109 in stock 328?
I'm participating in a time trial this weekend, and a friend is recommending I buy some "race fuel." Highest octane we can get at the pump here is 90.
Product he is pushing is called MB109 and is produced by VP Racing. MB109 is composed of: >49 % Complex combination of hydrocarbons <+ 50% Tert-butyl methyl ether I assume the "complex hydrocarbons" is just regular unleaded gas, and it is the methyl ether that gives the fuel its kick. My friend suggests I mix the MS 109 50/50 with 87 pump gas. My car is stock, is leased, and very much under warranty. Is my friend steering me wrong? This stuff is unbelievably expensive, even when mixing 50/50 with pump gas. Am I going to see any performance gains? Am I going to destroy my engine or warranty? Has anyone run this fuel through their f30? |

On a bone stock car you will see absolutely no noticeable gains what so ever.
I would remove the back rear folding seats and front seat. For weight savings. Try some water wetter for the extended running time and higher maintained rpms.

Water Wetter is by Redline and is an additive to your coolant. It allegedly keeps coolant temperatures cooler. It can't hurt but honestly I have run this car on the track in 95 degree heat with 3 passengers aboard and it never had cooling troubles so I wouldn't worry too much.

Good to know. Thanks! But I'll be running in interior Alaska, and would be surprised if the thermometer hits 70, so I'm not too concerned with cooling.

My first question to you: Have you ever ran a time trial before?

Without an ecu tune you won't see the benefits of running higher octane fuel. Get a gun ran 11.9 with bms jb4 stage2 on race map with 100 octane + downpipe + k1's
Pretty awesome can't wait for legit chargepipes to come out.... |
