Best way to re-install stock mufflers?

I just bought an Eisenmann axle back that is going on this weekend. However, one of the concerns I had was how I might go about taking it off and putting back on the stock mufflers if I ever decide that I don't like it, it's too loud, etc.

What is the best way to go about doing that?

Which Eisenmann did you end up getting?

Easiest way would be to mark, take pix, cut where indicated to install. Reverse of this procedure, I would personally clean up the cut, spot weld, and stainless band clamp the two ends for an almost seamless clean seal.

I think you could also have a sleeve added to the oem rear section similar to what the Eisenmann has to allow clamping the stock rear back on.

I'm sure a muffler shop could make it work.

Look at realoem.com. BMW sells sleeve clamps to re-attach the mufflers.
PN is 18307560815

Great ideas here. Thanks a ton. Relieves a bunch of the concern about switching back over.

Now, that said, is there any reason to switch over when bringing in for service or is this something that dealers won't have a problem with? I can't imagine why they would since its behind the cats, but I'm just wondering if anyone has run into an issue at all.

And thanks Nate, it looks terrific. Going on this weekend.

And a big shout out to Nerwyll at Trinity for all of his help too!!!!

Yes, I am sure when you have partial damage to your exhaust system they are not replacing the whole thing. Look for yourself at realoem.com.

The picture looks exactly like the F10 M5 exhaust and the part number is an F10 M5 part so I think yes.

No reason to switch over. When I last had my car in for service, we put it up n the lift and I had a look at the exhaust together with the dealers lead M technician and my service advisor. They were both very impressed with the Eisenmann exhaust and the install work. They said they felt it surpassed OEM quality.

Who is installing it for you? I had mine done at Velos Designwerks and was very happy with their workmanship.

Hi,
I actually checked this part number at the dealers, and yes, they are for the M5, which is great news.

Excellent, I will try and order a set in case I want to change back the Eisenmann Race, which is being fitted on Wednesday.....

I have the complete system, but I am only fitting the rear mufflers to see how I get on, if its not loud enough I will get the centre pipe fitted.

Over here it is $80 per clamp. I will wait because it is entirely possible the need to reinstall will never arise.

Agreed, just checked with my dealer and they are £64.50 each, so will wait until needed. They had 11 in UK stock and 600 in Germany......
