335xi Sport vs Non-Sport Suspension

I was wondering what the difference between a e90 335xi sedan (2008) sport and non sport is? I am particularly interested in knowing if the suspension is the same or different? Does the xi sport sedan have a lower ride height? I am asking because I am looking to buy one but it has 17 inch wheels and I want to upgrade to 162 type 18 inch wheels and if I put the right size tire will i be able to get rid of most of the wheel gap or will it still require suspension mods like a set of eibachs etc?

Thanks

The sport package on the XI does NOT change the suspension components. I have the sedan and the gap on mine seems a lot less than on the coupe.

I have 19's on mine and I really don't think the gap is bad. If I were to change it, it would be for handling purposes rather than looks.

As Outah mentioned there is no difference in the suspension components for the xi/xdrive if you get sport or non-sport.

IMO there is still a bit of a wheel gap on the e90 and I would want to put on coils or a shock/spring combo. Putting on only lowering springs would deteriorate the ride quality and wear out your stock shocks faster.

I thought the Sport package had a lower height, at least it does for the 335i. Maybe xi is different (?). My 2007 328 xi was not Sport package and looked like a 4x4

xi sport package does not have the sport suspension. However it does come with the other sport options; seats, wheels, steering wheel....may be other things I'm forgetting.

Sport package on my e92 Xdrive meant...

Awesome seats. Nice steering wheel. Shadowline trim.

My car did not have the upgraded wheels, so it does not have the oil cooler

Damn you're right! 18" wheels is a requirement. I also read that if you don't have the sport package AND 18" wheels you're governed to 135 MPH. Do you know if that's correct?

Hmmm....that one I don't know, but now I'm curious.

I only knew about the oil cooler because I have the sport package on my 335xi, but don't have an oil cooler.

Use the 'xi struts. MSport is an appearance package only (added on top of the Sport package, which on 'xi cars means no change.) Pretty sure that being a coupe makes no difference.

As the other posted mentioned, you need the XI struts. Specifically, the front struts need to be XI (which are shorter). The rears should be the same as any RWD e92.

Same goes for sway bars. Rears are universal; fronts are specific to RWD or AWD.
