If I plug the intake hole, are there any negatives to doing this? Thanks

I tried this out a while ago, make sure you get the right plugs to seal it up, wasn't a fan of the sound..

I'm going to state the obvious but as long as you close the holes on the intake you should be fine.

Helix sells a kit with small filters for the DVs, and plugs for the intakes

just buy forged diverter valves or a blow off valve instead of half assing the factory diverters...

Not any more of a problem than recirculating. Go for it, you may not be impressed by the sound though. These valves were not made by BMW to show off sound, they were simply made to be functional. Expect more of a woosh sound.

its not recommended, but doesnt really hurt the car. You can also expect a little oil to shoot out of there also. so i gets a little messy.

You will need small filters to go on the DVs. At idle they are nearly wide open, sucking in unfiltered air. I've done this before and while it does sound cool for a few days, I put it back to factory.

Since I'm running meth, any leftover meth will shoot out into the engine bay. I'd rather recirculate that back into the intake. This goes for blow by oil too

I agree on everything except I would get an Oil Catch Can if you want to combat the Oil re circulation.

These vales get pretty gunked up just from being DI. Let alone the oil blow by oil.
Last thing you need is more oil in your intake charge or intercooler. Get an OCC

Got one But for those who don't, you would be spraying oil in your engine bay lol

Correct me if I am wrong but by not recirculating the air back into the intake (and blowing it into the engine bay) aren't you potentially lessening the amount of oil the gets into the intake tract? I am definitely not comparing it's effectiveness to an OCC but ever bit helps.

Not true, while they are open, the turbos still create a positive pressure before the TB, causing the DV's to flow air OUT not IN. Most BOV's on this car run open at idle too.

That said some small filters wouldn't hurt anything either, and it might put your mind at ease if you're paranoid.

I've been running my Forge DVs vented to atmosphere with no filters for about 7 months now with no ill effect. No oils spraying into the engine bay either (not sure where you got that myth from).

The OP is asking about stock DVs. If you look inside the recirculating hoses there is evidence of oil residue. Now if you remove the hose and vent to atmosphere, the blow by oil will be vented into the engine bay as well. How much oil blow by is dependent on mileage and rings condition.
