335is SES light

Bought a CPO 2011 335is a few weeks back.

On the highway at moderate speeds on a high gear more than half throttle car feels like its losing traction, throws an SES light and has a horrible vibration. Restarting the car seems to clear the problem. Does not occur with heavy throttle in lower gears.

Any thoughts? Should I take it to the dealer? I bought it from a BMW dealer 50 miles away so I'd service it at a different dealer nearby. I'm not sure the would provide a loaner or not.

Anybody else experience this problem?

I had a very similar problem with my 335i - at moderate throttle it would lose power, develop a misfire, and shake as if I was driving over a washboard. Would also throw the SES light (but NOT "engine malfunction" light), and would clear upon restart.

I took it in and the diagnosis was "injectors leaking on bank 2 cyl 4,5,6". They replaced 3 injectors+3plugs and the problem was resolved. I did the remaining 3 plugs myself just to have a complete set replaced.

I would take it in soon, as if it is leaky injector/misfire and unburned fuel is making its way to the exhaust, it will fry the cat relatively quickly.

Sounds like a bad injector.

Thanks all. Car goes into the shop in a week. It's nice to be driving a BMW again. I had an e39 m5 for years before our first kid. Sold the car before he arrived and now 2 more kids later, I'm in a 335is.

I'd forgotten what a real drivers car feels like.

They are replacing all the coils and one of the spark plugs. I get the car back today. I'm looking forward to installing my Cobb once I get it back.

Ya I was gona guess coils, they last normally about 100k miles on 330's guess its less on 335's...yours is only 2011 im assuming it doesnt have 100k on it. Maybe bad batch of coils.

So there is a recall on the injectors? How long does it take the dealer from start to finish? Mine are acting up really bad and I cant keep going like this. Putting off due to no other ride.

They had the car for 2 days. Car seems better now. I'll try putting Cobb back on this weekend.

Two days isn't bad at all. Was it indeed a recall? How much did you pay out of pocket?
