M3 Paddles on Steptronic?
Hi Peeps,
Can M3 paddles be retrofitted to Steptronics? I know paddles and be retrofitted to non paddle cars, but what about the M3 paddles which are '-' and '+' on each side, rather than push and pull for gear changes? |

If you already have paddles, they are plug and play. The steptronic ones have 3 wires, 1 for upshift, 1 for downshift, and 1 for ground. The M3 paddles have 2 wires on each paddle, 1 for upshift or downshift depending on which paddle, then the ground wire.

Thanks for the reply.
Current situation is no paddles. Want to know if I can go straight to a M3 steering wheel with paddles. Are you able to clarify that? |

Check out the DIY threads. There's a bunch of post regarding what you want to do. I seen people switch out their steering wheel w/o paddles and they had to make a harness connectors. Very intense. I switch out my paddles with M3 ones, works perfect.

Yeah, going from no paddles to either version is costly and intricate. I personally don't think it's worth it. I have DCT paddles updated to LCI + & - on my 07 E92. While I like them better than stock, I rarely use them at all. Can't see it being worth the cost of a full change out of wheel, paddles and wiring.
