320i owners help

Right folks I think this may have been covered before, apologies if it has but it's really beginning to bug me now!

Was doing the nursery run this morning, consists of 5 mins each way, when I got home I left the car running and it sounds awful rattley!

I've had it since Nov last year and I think I've noticed it before, what I'm looking for is if its quite normal / acceptable or is a trip to the dealers required?

The performance is unaffected it just sounds like an old school diesel!

Not cool man, not cool!!!

Mine's sounds very smooth when idle! If yours sound like a diesel then I would take it to the dealer and get it checked out just in case any damage is done.

mine sounds diesel like at idle and when cold, and can only be noticed with the window down. after that - no such noises. I have read this on reviews before so i'm not concerned but get the dealer to check it out, its not like it will cost you anything.

It's probably just me, been 6 years since my last petro which was a civic type r that was definitely a different sound. I'll take it in for a look

Probably nothing wrong with it, these 4 cylinder engines not the sweetest sound ones I drive several different BMW's every day with these engines and I'm always a bit bit disappointed with the engine sound but just the way they are but they go fast especially when you rev it up to 6000rpm pulls nicely

320i xdrive also think I'm just paranoid there's something wrong, like the comments I agree I don't even notice it when inside the car. Hay ho might just leave it unless it gets worse!

I love the way this engine sounds. A wonferfull raspy note, that said, ive not had much experience with 6 cylinder petrols. I have driven diesels for the last 6 years so thus is nega imo.
