Service Inclusive - worth it?

Hi There,

Just got a 1 year old approved used 328ise and it is a world of difference to my 12 year old E46!!

I have the choice to take out the service inclusive option for £475.00 fro 5 years or 50,000.

I am not sure of the servicing intervals on an F30 - is it basically every 16K ish on CBC or is there the service 1 oil service etc. like on the old E46.

What do people generally think - is it a worthwhile thing to do? I will not be doing more than 8K per year at most in the car.

Thanks

Go for it. The motor will need at least 2 services & break fluid changes in that time frame which would cost more than £475 at the main stealer. You also get MOT protect for the 1st 5 years covering any failure (unlikely but you never know)

Defo get it. I had the 5 year service pack on our E91 and I got it as freebie sweetener when I ordered the F31. One thing you should be aware of, if the car is 1 year old, the Service Pack will only run for 4 years and not 5. It might of changed but that was the case on our 6 mth old E91.

Double check with the dealer.

Yes you should definitely go for it...the service interval is every 19-20K miles...so you will be covered for 2 services, the in between oil top ups and as mentioned above for the brake fluid change with the spark plugs, microfilter.

The service cost since its service based though the dealers charge oil + filter + labour cost but if the car is saying microfilter and then spark plugs etc then the bill climbs up...so you will be fine with the cost...

Valid point mentioned above since you are having your car as a year old make sure you are negotiating your dealer to get it priced for 4yrs or make it as a service inclusive plus...

I spoke with the dealer and they said that the cost is actually £650 as the car was not registered for service within 60 days of it's first registration!!

The car was an ex BMW UK group car, so was never going to be registered for service inclusive!!

£650 for 4 years seems a lot, but the dealer said that an oil service + filters is about £300!!

Waiting for a response from the sales guy!!

Thanks for the replies all.

Hi Clinton, if you are going to keep the car for some years it's worth it, if not don't bother.

That's a load of BS to, my car was just under 12 months old when I added my service plan at £350.

Make him honor is original price to you. The plan is well worth it. I'm sure it is the same over your way as it is here in the USA. I put the same type of miles per year on my car too. The oil changes become a yearly thing per BMW. But you get so much more. They do brake flushes and complete brake jobs. Computer updates, anti freeze flush. I had the plan on my e90 which I had for 3+ years and that car cost me 0 dollars in that time to maintain. For me just not having to do the work and getting BMW parts was worth the cost. When I sold the car and handed the new owner the folder with every BMW service receipt, he was beyond impressed.

Thanks for the information hprice1099 - good to know!!

Was yours on a brand new car though, with some discount thrown in maybe?

I assumed that you purchased through a dealer in Liverpool?

I might give them a ring, if you would not mind me asking who the dealership is.

Hi, no mine was a management car. Only had 3000 miles on when I bought it
It was purchased from Haliwell Jones north Wales, nice dealership and got a great deal Ye I'd ring them to see if they can do anything, should be able to at least tell your dealer he's not right.

Have never bought a BMW without service inclusive. It's worth every penny (for me anyway).

Also - something they don't make too clear... if you have service inclusive you get free oil when you need it, just pop in... in fact they will even put it in.

John - do you need a running in service on the M5?, think the M3 was £1k service inclusive, running in service at 1200 miles £600... so no question it was worth having.

Yes Mat £1K for the service pack, and as you say £600 for the first service @ 1200 miles.
It's a no brainer not having it.
