Goodbye Beamer Friend, enjoyed the ride!

Hi All - A BMW was on my bucket list, so nine months ago I bought a beautiful Deep Sea Metallic Coupe with Cream Beige Leather, Premium and Convenience Packages; it was an untitled demo with 15K, it now has 22K. I traded it in yesterday.

I loved driving it for about 6 months, felt young again. But the last three months the stiff ride and hard seats got to my old 77 year old bones so I traded it in for a softer riding, easier to get out of MB C250. I loved having a Beamer and loved driving it; I never have got a ticket but I have exceeded 100MPH a dozen times in the past few months. Yahoo.
Enjoyed being part of you Drivers, if only for a short while.

I installed a very expensive sliding armrest which made driving more comfortable on the highway and set of very expensive inch thick Sheepskin Custom Made Seat Covers to try to ease the hardness of the seats. They are for sale in the Classified for about 20% of cost if anyone is interested.

Enjoyed the ride, best to you all. Dick PS Sold the Armrest for peanuts Covers are the real bargain.

My mother has a MB C250. Great riding car... incredibly smooth and just easy to drive. Enjoy!

We're obviously all BMW fans here, but I don't think anyone can give you a hard time for making the change that you did.

I'm wondering though, did you consider the 3-series sedan? The 3-series coupe comes with the sport suspension standard and so it's a good deal stiffer (beats me up every day, haha).

Regardless, congratulations on the new ride! Great choice!

Great story! I'm so glad that you were able to enjoy it! Sorry that the ride was so harsh! I wish that more people would enjoy life like you!

Best of luck to you in the MB!

22k miles, sounds like a nice car. hope you got a good price on that trade!

Can understand the ride and the back. Some day I'll have to deal with that too. Until then, yahoo!

Maybe it depends on model year then? I checked for at least my car, a MY 2009 vehicle with only the Premium and Cold Weather packages:
http://autos.aol.com/cars-BMW-328-2009/expert-review/
"The two-door 3 Series coupes are the sportiest. The firmer sport suspension, optional with other body styles, comes standard on the coupe..."

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/re...umentid=696255
"Coupes are equipped with a sport suspension that includes firmer shocks, springs, anti-roll bars, and bushings, as well as a half-inch-lower ride height — all of which make the ride feel a little firm."

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2009/...kages_options/
Sport and M Sport packages do not list "Sport alternate suspension" as being part of the packages for the Coupe, but it is there for sedans.

I remember it being mentioned in another thread I thought I read here (might have been another forum) that the Coupe came standard with the sport suspension. It was news to me too, so I had to look it up. Really explained my car's particularly stiff and sometimes harsh ride on rough city streets (though I don't mind it because I'm okay with the compromise to get better handling).

all e92 (non xi) have the sport suspension. "Sport Package" which is optional, just adds to that.

congrats on crossing it off your bucket list!! its awesome to hear of people still have the love of driving and cars at an age most people would stereotype as being "buick drivers". congrats on the new car!

Are you sure? I'm only asking because I don't think there's any way my car could have the standard suspension given how it rides (my car has xDrive). I've driven a 370Z on the same streets for comparison and even the Z felt softer than my car. It's a CPO vehicle and I haven't modded it at all so I wouldn't think it has aftermarket parts on it from the previous owner.

Not trying to start a debate or anything, I just wanna figure this out, haha. Maybe I'll ask the service adviser or a tech at the dealership next time I'm there. One thing I can say though is that the F30 loaner I had while my car was in for the battery cable recall felt like what I'd expect a Rolls Royce to feel like by comparison because of how smooth the ride was, hahaha (I know the F30 is generally softer than the E90 though, at least that's what people are saying).

that's really interesting... i'd like to learn more, I know for a fact that at least non xi coupes have a sports vs non sports package because when I was shopping for my 2 e92s I was very adamant about having sports seats which come with the sports package

so you're saying all e92s (non xi) have the same suspension? sports package just changes the seats?

My sister had a C250, they're pretty quick considering it wasn't even the turbo one. Did you get the new turbo'ed one?
