M Performance Exhaust

I'm thinking about getting the m performance exhaust and PPK at my dealership but does the m performance give any HP/performance gains other then the enhanced sound?

Not sure about performance gains from the exhaust, I'm sure there may be some but its more than likely very mild. On the other hand it is definitely a great bang for your buck and with the PPK it will sound great and give you the gains your looking for performance wise.

It works great along with the PPK on my 8AT car. Sounds good too. The combination seems to go together quite nicely.

My guess would be that, with respect to horsepower, you would see gains of roughly 5-10 horsepower. I think that the higher end of the estimate would only be attainable if the exhaust was installed in conjunction with something such as the M PPK.

I personally would get a jb4 and a Evolution Racewerks cat free down pipe.
About a grand and a double the power. The sound is amazing.

"Double the power" of what? The MPPK? Don't fool yourself into thinking that. The MPPK puts out WAY more than the advertised extra 20 HP. Catless downpipes are fine for a track car, but will screw up the engine management on a daily driver, regardless of the "fixes" provided by the piggybackers. All this "efficient dynamics" stuff is making those kind of mods much more of a risky venture.

It makes their pricing strategy more difficult.
They would have to lower their tune prices across the board to compete with this... Unsure if they would do that.

Yeah, I've been meaning to do that. Soon as I can figure out how to lower the resolution on my Nikon's video settings (so that the file isn't so big), I'll get one. Last time I tried it, a one-minute clip was something like 100 MB in size.

Yeah, you'd think after all this time, they'd have the code cracked by now. The F30 has a completely different DME and also uses a "real" network instead of CANBUS, so I'd guess that it's just taking awhile to figure out how to do it. Although Dinan and BMW have a good relationship, BMW apparently doesn't share the encryption keys with them - at least, that's what I've heard. I've used Dinan software on three different 3-series in the past and always been very happy with their stuff, but this factory-authorized kit appears to be the equivalent of at least Dinan S2 if not more. It's hard to tell the difference between the MPPK on my F30 from Dinan S3 on my former E92 that also had Dinan intake and exhaust and was rated at 408 HP at the flywheel. Our M-Sport cars have the additional water and oil cooling radiators that are needed for the higher temps brought on by the more agressive software, so it's definitely underrated at an advertised 20 HP.

One item to keep in mind was that when it was time to sell or trade my E92, the dealer wouldn't even consider the Dinan equipment that they had installed for me, reasoning that the car would only appeal to someone interested in all that extra power, thus reducing their ability to move it quickly. So I found someone who was really interested in a fully-equipped Dinan S3 car and got $4K more for it than the dealer offered on a trade. But this factory kit WILL have some value as it's not in any way an "aftermarket" tune and will definitely have a wider appeal as it sets it apart from cars without it.
