Front bumper curbed the ground... any fixes?

So I was pulling out of a parking lot into the streets and I think my front bumper barely hit the ground and now theres a few minor scratches under the front bumper and I'm OCD about and very mad at myself. Would touch up paint do the job or should I bring to a professional. Anyone know how much it would cost for a professional to do it? and anyone else curbed there front bumper so I can feel better? Haha.

you'd have to have the whole front bumper resprayed- probably $400

i say don't worry about it

Soooooooo crazy.

I just had a dream I drove my new 328 over a curbed driveway into blacktop and scraped the bottom of my front bumper like that. I'm super OCD about my car as well and woke up in a panic.

To me, it looks like it would need to be fixed professionally, hopefully won't cost too much because I feel like you're going to want to do it.

Get some 3m scratch remover, and work at it for a while, it won't remove the bigger ones, but the smaller ones will go away, and you'll be left with at least something better to look at and determine if it's okay to live with.

unless you know what you're doing with touch up paint, i'd stay away until you at least try a rubbing compound.

Just a thought, maybe look into a front lip which covers the entire lower portion of your front bumper? From the picture, it looks like its a M-Sport front, so maybe going with the 3D Design lip? It probably won't cost you much more than fixing it, and definitely adds more to "value" to your car (especially so when it covers those curb)

Strange area to get the scratches. The lowest point of the bumper are the sides but this seems to be in the center?

i wonder if all these people recommending touch up paint have actually used it themselves..

unless you really really know what you are doing, i would leave it to the pros because more than likely, it's going to look like shit

leave it or get it resprayed.. only 2 options imo

so this is what i found those side looking cameras up front are good for. they have yellow lines on them that represent where the front of the car is and they give you a good foot of space as a safety buffer. i usually turn them on when pulling up to a curb and just move forward until the yellow lines are parallel with the curb.

Thanks for all the tips. My car is msport and I didn't get this front a curb. After looking at some pictures 2 days ago. I think I see the scratch in those pictures already so the story above is not even how I got it. So now I don't know how this even happened haha. But I cleaned the area and got the dirt off and now there's the real scratches that I will be covering up with touch up paint.

A auto repair shop told me $300 to 350 which is outrageous bc they go through the procedure of taking off bumper then fixing area, blend paint and clear gloss whole bumper which I think is unnecessary for just a few scratches. So I will be touching it up myself, then put clear coat over. And should I apply rubbing compound to blend it in or no?

If you're a DIY junkie like me you might want to look at a touch up sprayer from Harbor Freight, it hooks up to a compressor. You wet sand before priming and then you wet sand between coats, etc... I believe that if you look up the procedure on the Internet you will be able to touch it up yourself. The problem is that automotive paint is so expensive that you might end up not saving a whole lot of money at the end of the job...

The touch up paint I ordered is at onlinebinpart.com and it seems pretty professional and it was only $15 so I'ma do some research before I touch it up to try to get the best results. And its under the car so a perfection job isn't really needed. I just want to make unnoticeable from 5 feet away or so.....

I just did the same thing, unfortunately, mine got scratched pretty badly on the left inner winglet and an be seen from the from rather than under.

I've spoken the 3 different body shops and the consensus is that the whole bumper needs to be removed, prepped and resprayed to do it properly. There are 7 colors in EBII and it cant be properly matched without being totally re-done, if yours is a straight, non metallic color, this can be done w/out removing much cheaper.

In MY case, the lower air dam has many small rock chips so I wanted to get it resprayed anyway but then I realized the M-Sport splitter completely covers the effected area for about the same price... Problem solved

If you don't want to pay for the repair, do it yourself.

Regardless if your work looks crappy, it's on the bottom of the valence. Once there's white paint on it, only a fellow Bimmer brother would notice...
