state farm covers all windows in FL for full coverage customers. I thought all insurance agency's covered the front windshield by law?

All i know is I accidentally shattered my rear windshield and spent $460 out of pocket to fix it.

Your insurance does cover it. It's required by Florida law if I'm not mistaken.
I have had my windshield on my 335 replaced 4 or 5 times in the last couple years lol. Never paid a cent. Allstate wanted me to use Glass America. I have mixed opinions on them. Sometimes they did a great job, sometimes a crappy job. Depends on the installer. Also, tell them that you are required to use OEM glass by your lease. That way they order you OEM glass and not use some other cheap one. I've done that every time.

i thought so too....but apparently if you don't have comprehensive insurance on your vehicle it would cover it, which i don't...cuz i'm cheap lol...now i have to pay for it

By law insurance companies in the state of florida are supposed to replace all cracked or broken windshields for FREE.

I just had mine replaced by safelight. Out of pocket was less than 300. If you are a "repeat" customer you get more off

Ask the dealer who they use and go to that installer directly. Windshield replacement is something you want done by folks who do a lot of BMW replacements. And use BMW glass. If not you will have a lot of cabin noise. I've been down that road. Unpleasant.

even if my car doesn't have comprehensive coverage?

edit: spoke to insurance, the state of florida will ignore comprehensive deductible and cover for the front windshield, IFFFF you have comprehensive coverage on the car....which i didn't use bcuz i wanted monthly cheap payments...and that's what i get...lol

sidebite: Anyone know what companies BMW dealers use to replace them?..

why don't you just Google windshield replacement places. I did and i saved $100 by calling around to see who would do it cheapest... Whoever BMW uses is going to cost you an arm and a leg.

you are going to be looking around $700 is my guess

I just had my windshield replaced last month for the 2nd time and it was also covered under my insurance with no deductible. I was told that its covered in the state of fl by law but they never said i had to have a certain type of insurance.

I wanted to go thru the dealer and have a oem glass put on but the dealership told me that they most likely won't replace it with a oem windshield and that they wouldn't even replace it themselves because its cheaper to have an outside company come out and do it. So the guy i was talkin to at the dealership told me to just have it done by safelite and i did and everything is fine. I even told them that my windshield had a rosey tint to it So they installed one that had it lol.....

Ever since I had my windshield replaced by safelite with their glass, my automatic wipers don't work well. I think the glass is thicker/thinner, but next time I'll pay extra for BMW glass.

You still have to have comprehensive coverage I believe.
