Cobb Vs. JB4
I have an '07 e90 335i and of course the first thing I'm going it get a tune. However I have been stuck on this for a while, Cobb or JB4? I understand the benefits of both and was leaning towards the Cobb but i see more people with JB4's rather than Cobb tuned. Which would you choose and why? Please take into consideration price, ease of installation, and performance enhancements.

When I get a tune I am going to get JB4 simply because it is cheaper, and you can switch maps while driving unlike COBB you have to reflash the tune which if I remember correctly takes at least a few minutes and you can't be driving the car.
Power gains seem to be the same and install for JB4 doesn't look hard but I would like to hear what the COBB guys have to say.

I personally like Cobb because it doesn't require anything to be attached to the car for it to function.
Install and uninstall easily.

I've researched this a ton. If money is no object or you have warranty Cobb. Sure the JB4 is easy to uninstall in your garage but not if you're stuck on the side of the highway waiting for a tow truck to come take your car to BMW.

most people who want a tune dont really take advantage of what cobb can offer. Jb4 offers more features (huge part of why JB4 is awesome), can offer similar or better numbers, and is almost half the price of a COBB. Switching maps on the fly/ methanol and e85 capabilities/ gauge hi-jacking(boost/AFR)/ Auto-tuning/ hot & cold protection/ ETC. Cobb can make the same amount of power, but would require some pro-tuning. Its also the "easiest" to install and the accessport is a cool device. I think jb4 is a better bang for your buck though. Your investment is also protected a little better also. cobbs keeps their price well. |

I think his main point is, if you're stuck on the side of the road, you can just use Cobb and uninstall before the car gets taken into a dealership for repair. That way they can't blame the tune for your car failure. As opposed to JB4 where you need tools and probably don't have them with you in the car.

This topic has been covered so many times that no body should want to argue about it. Both tunes work great. Make your decision from price, install/uninstall time and features (maps etc).
