Put my mind at rest please.

Having only recently purchased based my 59 plate 320d M-Sport last month I am going through the usual (for me) settling in phase where I question every minute issue that doesn't seem quite right. I'm sure it's normal but thought I would check and see if it is something that other people have also noticed.

1: When cold, below 7 degrees Celsius ish the engine is pretty noisy when first started. Nothing additional to the diesel sound just much louder and causing more vibration. Most of it comes through the steering column as it reduces a fair bit if I release the column adjustment lever. Normal?

2: Also when cold and I change gear with the rpm below 2500 rpm the revs drop really fast to idle (about 900rpm). Normal?

The car is allegedly remapped by DMS although I've yet to confirm this. Could that be a factor or am just seeing issues where there are non?

Cheers, Chris.

They are very noisy when cold. Not sure about the rpm dropping off but 900 rpm sounds high for an idle speed.

900 rpm is ok until engine warms up. will then settle at 800 revs.

The idle does drop when warm. Changing gear above 2.5rpm though the revs hold for a second or so but not when changing before then. Drops in an instant.

Not sure about the vibration coming through the wheel! I certainly never noticed that in any 320d (164, 177 183) that I'd driven...
