F30 Golf tee mod, Clamp alternative to Wire.

Its winter, Im bored and I sort of came up with this alternative way to do your golf tee mod on your F30.

Why you ask? Dosent the wire work just fine. Yes. It does. In fact Its still on my M Performance muffler. Ill put the clamp on it later on. But alot of people dont like the idea of putting cheap wire on their expensive cars, so this looks much better and neater I think.

So since I did my own muffler upgrade, I got to keep my oem muffler. So Ill be demonstrating on it.

I just used a simple clamp. Its best if you have a dremmel tool to cut with.

Tools needed,
Dremmel
8mm socket and ratchet (to tighten clamp)
Caliper (not really reqired) use a ruler.

Let the pictures do the talking.

Very nice idea... I shall go do this instead. More secured than wires. Haha.

I mean yeah I can make you one. I can't guarantee it won't break if you over tighten it, it becomes very fragile where the 3.1mm of the clamp remain. It's still better then wire as my wire snapped once. Well see how this holds up.

I dont want any money for my labor its super simple. Ill buy a clamp cut it up for ya, and if youre serious, PM me. Just pay for clamp cost and shipping . Prob run you under $5 bucks.

In all honesty, if you wanted to try and cut the clamp with some shears it may work for you as well. You dont necessarily need a dremel. Just putting that out there.

I simply removed the spring clamp and tack welded the flap in the open position. No worries of anything ever coming loose

That's even better! Clean no wire/clamp. Only thing is reversing it, it be a little tougher to get the weld back off, but with the right tool anything is possible

Tent Peg Alternative

Sorry to revive and ancient thread, but I found this and intended to replicate it. I don't have a Dremmel, so I had difficulty cutting the clamp properly. Then I found a small tent peg (actually may be from a holiday lawn inflatable) in my garage......no cutting required.

I dont use it anymore but it worked like a charm when I did. I got tired of the chicken wire dusting out and breaking.
If I can find my clamp and if you want it, it's yours just pay the shipping to yourself. I don't need it.

EDIT: Nevermind just saw your photos and what yuu did looks solid stick with that

Apparently it throws a code when unplugged and in my case the original spring broke and fell off, so it seemed like the mod was the easiest solution for the "kill two birds" solution. Valve rattled like hell without the spring.

Thanks. Agreed on the chicken wire being a temporary solution. The wire I originally used lasted about 5 months. I am sure others used better wire, resulting in better results.
