DIY: Brake Force Display activation FRM2 03.2007-10.2008
Hi guys,
If you are interested to have Break Force Display you should make these changes in your FRM module. Working with e90s pre-LCI between 03.2007-10.2008: BFD_1_ALGORITHMUS nicht_aktiv BFD2_AKTIV aktiv BFD2_BFD blinkend BFD2_BL blinkend BFD2_BL_M blinkend BFD2_ESS_ANZEIGE aktiv BFD2_ESS_ENABLE aktiv BFD2_NSL blinkend BFD2_SL_BL_1 blinkend Checked, works great. When you break hard, you breaking lights are flashing.
This movie is not mine, but it looks like this: You can activate this feature in every E9x. |

normally the ones I've seen on BMWs or Mercedes is where the normal brake lamps light, but then the rear fog lamps light in addition so they're brighter.

These codes didn't quite work for me. I copied them verbatim and coded to the FRM module. I have a 07/07 E92 328xi. You can see from the video that it looks like the rear fogs come on, but no flashing primary or third brake lights. And after the car comes to a stop, there's no flashing at all. I activated the ABS on that stop so I think I hit the right deceleration threshold.
I'll probably undo it unless someone could tell me if I've missed something. |

Anyone has any idea how to get this working on a FRM3?
It used to work when i got the car (when slamming the brakes from high speed, the hazard lights would come on), but now it doesn't work anymore and can't figure out why. I reset the FRM3 to the default values but it did not help. BFD values appear active, but it just does not work as it used to.

I can confirm that it does not work on FRM2.
Kenbrinkman, try activating the BFD1 as well and see.

******84's video looks like its from Europe. I'm thinking the VO needs to be updated with 2 stage brake light option ($5AB). I'll give it a try, not sure how to test though, I don't have a giant mirror chasing me, lol

I can't see clearly from your video but if your fog lights are coming on when you brake hard then the BFD is working cause the fog lights are the actual 2nd stage turning on when braking hard. Maybe the hazard effect needs to be activated on another command within the TRC file.

Just looking into that option. But it looks like it does work like DUIelite is stating. The BFD lights up the fog lights in addition to the normal brake lights when hard braking takes place. It looks like some guys are confusing the BFD with the blinking hazards effect.

No one knows if it works but its listed in the VO code list (found the list from another member of the forum). I was just speculating that adding this option to the VO would allow US cars with FRM2 to have the blinker effect.
