Loudness Level: Eisenmann Race/Sport and Akrapovic

I really want to get Eisenmann Race, but I'm a bit afraid that it might be too loud for everyday use since Akra Evo for the M3 was already pretty loud for me.

In terms of cabin noise, if Eisenmann Race is 10 and OEM is 0; where do Eisenmann Sport and Akra Evo stand? Anyone have experience with Akra Evo on the M3 and can give a comparison of the Eisenmann Race/Sport and Akra Evo for the M5 to the Akra Evo for the M3?

Thanks!

Eisenmann Race is the loudest of current exhausts, except for a straight piped muffler delete.

Here was my volume rating posted in another thread:
0- Stock
1- Akra
7- E Race
10- Muffler delete

All that said, the turbos kill the noise on this car and cabin is super insulated. E Race with stock center pipes is not too loud for daily driving. It sounds phenomenal...just do it

Yeah, lots of threads on this

From my previous thread - I went with the Akra over the E-race. If you are going full exhaust, the advice that I received from IND was that it is loud.

As for the Akra, it is near stock at idle, much louder at cold start, and sings above 4K RPM - definitely much louder than stock, and I'd say as loud but a different pitch than the E-sport, cans only.

Comparing the Akra Evo on the M3 to the M5, I have heard both...and I'd say that the M3 is louder.

None of this is scientific and my experience is with cars sitting next to each other and at highway speeds.

I am in the same boat. I want E-race but am "afraid" of it being too loud/dronish etc for daily use. I am also worried if I get E-sport I will like it but be left wanting a little more... and wish I went with the race.

One thing I have noticed is that if a certain set-up is truly obnoxious, it tends to show up on the member classifieds fairly soon. For example there were a ton of E-race systems up for resale on M3 post. I think that system really was too loud for DD (unless you are 19 years old and deaf). On the other hand E-sport systems were very rare on the member classifieds I am guessing because it was a perfect sound level for DD (for a broader audience).

With the F10, I haven't really seen a pattern on any exhaust for resale. This might be because of the superior cabin insulation or the fact that with the turbos etc the F10 just cant get loud and obnoxious enough to warrant a change by its owner.

It could be as simple as numbers. Much fewer F10 M5s with aftermarket exhausts means it will just take much longer for the resales to show up.

I sure wish there were some F10 M5s in the Pacific NW with E-race, E-sport etc installed so I could hear them in person!

Oh well.

I went through the same debate while choosing an exhaust. I wanted roar on the weekends but during my dial commute while making business call I didn't want it to be disruptive.

After hearing a few systems I opted for the full meisterschaft gtc ev. I enjoy having the electronic value so I can open up the pipes and make it roar while also being able to close them and tone it down.

Its sooooooo subjective you (the OP) really need to hear them in person. Remember that sometimes loud is obnoxious and sometimes loud is exotic and intoxicating. Only you can discern that for yourself.

So many times what I deemed to be rather tame was labeled as loud by others. So much like the test drive you took in the car, you will want to test drive the exhaust so to speak. You are in LA i think so there are many members in the area than you can sample the exhaust from Im sure.

From what I've been told, the Akra on the M3 was louder than the Evo system on the M5.

After hearing both in person that is 100% correct. The E92 M3 EVO is much more aggressive. I can't wait to hear catless downpipes + Akrapovic.

Nate, what exhaust for the F10 M5 has about the same loudness as Akra Evo for the M3?

I have the same dilemma too. Instead mine is F30 335. I got E-sport for both W204 C300 and E90 325. The sport is louder in merc than bmw.
How loud is it E-race? Most friends recommend it.
Don't have the luxury to hear in person.

I will echo what M54ccibo said.

Upon start, excluding a true cold start, the Akrapovic really sounds like stock.

I have heard the Eisemann Race - sounded great! - but a real boomer! I can't comment on hearing it during a drive/ride. I have not yet had mine above 4k yet, but I am really loving it. Perhaps I am getting a bit old, but when I shift upwards into 6 then 7th gear, the exhaust noise is nothing but subtle background - then I can hear to see if my B&O is rattling yet.

Also, once you see how ANY of these exhausts look, they really change the look of the car. The pipes really fill out the rear, making for a more complete look - IMHO

So, Did the full E-race end up being too loud for daily commute?

Hmmm.... Did u have full exhaust or not???
Very interesting.. was it too loud as an exhaust, or just too much drone?

ive heard quite a few people say this now. that E race is too droney and they change back to stock or esport shortly after. I think Arka evo is the way forward, but the price is quite painful. having said that. the price of Akra full and E Race full is probably the same (+10%)

my wife would kill me if I went for e race and we then took the kids out for a road-trip in the UK or across Europe. maybe she would leave me....
