water v. soap
A friend who owns a classic 911 suggests the following approach to cleaning:
1) Use 100% cotton towels 2) Use water, no soap 3) Once a week or so wash each panel with one towel and then dry it with the other 4) Wax twice a year with Klasse. 5) Dry wipe down with clean cotton towel at end of each day's driving That's it....comments? |

that sound like a disaster!!!
Soap provides lubrication to prevent the dirt on the car from doing any damage, as well at the same time helping the dirt come loose. I would never wash a car with just water. The wipe down you vehicle every day with a dry towel seems worse. Taking a dry towel, to a dry surface with dirt on it would be like wiping down you vehicle with the ruff end of those two sided spounges. Do yourself a favor and dont follow his directions. However the Klasse one is a decent one. I might do it ever 3 months atleast. Im alittle nuts so i wax my e90 almost every wash. Chris

maybe a mistake...
I think I may have misunderstood the daily wipe down - not with dry but with wet and dry. Nonetheless it seems people think the soap makes a difference. I guess the argument was that with a really good wax you do not need soap.
