So I am thinking of getting mini jcw
Don't flame me. I test drove a 2013 mcs jcw hatch and omg this thing was a lot of fun to drive. Felt raw connected and sits so flat on corners. Yes I knows the 335i is faster better built etc etc. my car will be 4 yrs this year. Need something better on mileage as gas is going up here all the time. Anyone ever made the switch? What are your thoughts. The new jcw engines pretty maniac.

I agree. Test drove one before settling on the base MINI (I love this car but no way was I spending $37,000 CDN on a MINI if a 128i comes in at the same price). MINI's aren't for everyone so if you drove it, loved the way it drives, feels and don't mind paying the price, I'd say go for it. It's a fun car period.

Yeah. Not talking about how much sense the car makes. Referring to the just driving feel. Lets not forget these are both bmws

Personally, I love the driving and the rock hard suspension. People hate it because it's too harsh but I don't mind, makes the car feel much more raw. I would go as far to say in terms of the driving aspect of the MINI, is much more fun and has more feel then my 325i. And hey, 6.9L/100km (around 700km+) ain't too bad either.

Had a 2009 jcw. Best car I have owned to date. My 335xi is obviously much faster, but I wouldn't say i have more fun in it. jcw handling is so precise and that transmission is like butter.
Put 55k care free miles on it until somebody spun me into a gaurdrale at 75. Walked away without a scratch. I wish I got another all the time, but then I just go wot and ) |

The only issue I have with JCWs is the price. If you're cool with that, I say go for it. For the money, I'd get a Golf R.

I'd test drive the Subaru brz as well. Heard great things about them. Should be interesting when they come out with the turbo version.

see i was a fan of the brz and frs but you could get a used mustang gt 5.0 for the price of a new one. a mustang GT would annihilate a brz or jcw.

Yeah price is a problem. But if I am honest. My 335i is pretty powerful and very refined sometimes too refined if that makes any sense. Jcw sounds good feels good and then engine feels as if it wants the rev away. The new n18 engines are pretty over engineered. Transmission felt great. Heard lots of people talk about torque steer. Didn't get any. Not sure if the new diff sorted that out. But those tyres are always struggling for traction. Felt weird being pulled at that rate as opposed to being pushed rwd. To me the car didn't lose much from being fwd.

I know this is an old post but I am really considering getting a mini JCW roadster. It's time to trade in my 335i. I had a mini back in 2006 and I loved it. It was one of the best cars I've owned and so much fun to drive. Did you end up getting the mini?

had a mini cooper S for a couple of days when i rented a car in monterey, CA. Was a few days of super fun driving on highway 1 and zipping around town. Had a lot of fun in that car. a bit small! (could barely fit a golf bag in the backseat!) but otherwise had a good time driving. If I had more space I would get one just for driving to work with the mpg and getting around town!
