DIY M Performance Brake Install?
How hard is it to upgrade from stock brakes to the colored M performance brakes? I have access to a garage on the base I am stationed at where I can do it. I'm trying to weigh having the dealer do it vs doing it myself. How many labor hours for the dealer to do it?

Do a search. The issue is not the labor, but the coding which needs to be done to the computer to properly accept the brakes.
Apparently the biggest issue with these cars is the fact you can't even change the battery yourself anymore without coding.

exactly. even new steering wheel with OLED display also require coding.
For M-performance bbk , you confirmed need coding for the braking effectiveness. I just done mine. |

That said, you will get messy. You might eat and/or inhale some brake dust and you will definitely hold your breath when pulling out of the driveway for the first time Just a tip. Since you're in MD/DC, if you make your way over to the Dulles Greenway around 2am it's a great straight to bed the brakes and not have to worry about being hit from behind. Depending on your pad selection you may even get to see some sparks fly! |
