Which TPMS will work?

I just bought a 2011 335d and I need winters. I want to get a full setup but I want to confirm which TPMS to use. I heard that 2010 and 2011 use different sensors than 2007-2009 is this true?

Does anyone know what is the difference (not that it matters much, but I am curious). Plus I want to make sure I get the correct ones so I'd like to check the codes.

I also heard that the new F30s use different sensors as well. Anyone know why? 2 years and then new again, has there been some sort of breakthrough in technology that I am not aware of?

Thanks.

Yes, the 2010-2011 uses a different TPMS sensor, and the new F30 vehicles use yet another different sensor. As far as I know the technology is the same.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. I guess that they want people trading in their E90s for newer E90s or F30s to buy new stuff for their winter sets...
