wtf.. car will not unlock

my sister-in-law's 330i will not unlock. I had to use the metal key in the fob to unlock the driver side door. It recognizes the comfort access and the blinkers blink, but it will not unlock. I tried the master switch on the dash to unlock all doors and it didn't work. Started the car and all the settings were gone. The presets, the car settings, audio settings, etc. all gone, it is like the car started afresh. Weirdest problem.

e46?? my dads e46 330 ci would not open from inside the car sometimes had to put the top down and jump over it was crazy !

My owner's manual states that the CA remote battery needs to be replaced from time to time. How old is your battery, have you had it checked and have you tried replacing the battery?
