N54 vs. N55 intercooler size? Same?

Any idea if BMW increased the size of the intercooler on 335i models? I had a 2007 335i and the car's intercooler was so inefficient that after one wide open throttle run the car ran noticeably slower, especially in warm weather.

Now my 2013 335i has much larger openings in the front bumper which I'm sure help airflow, but was curious if any other changes were made to help with the cooling.

The N55 will heat soak when driven aggressively, but I cannot provide any meaningful comparison to the N54.

Dinan is overpriced for what you get in my opinion. Other issue is that my car is leased, and by the time someone has an intercooler ready to go for my M-sport I'll probably have no more than 2 years left on the lease and by that time I won't be sure if it'll be worth it.

a little off topic, but according to real oem, the M sport adds an extra transmission radiator in addition to the radiator for water cooling. so that's two additional radiators that M sport adds to the regular sports package on the 335.

would definitely help with heat but no clue on the the IC with regards to the n54.

I have an ETS 5" on my 2007 E92...was able to install it without removing the bumper, as its dimensions are identical to the rather chintzy stock intercooler. That said, I'm ordering a 2013 M-Sport Line 335 with the N55, so I'm not sure if ETS has a product for that car yet, but I'll be looking for one. Upgrading the intercooler adds a lot to the feel and performance, so it'll be a worthwhile mod, and my dealership should be ok with it as I had one in my present car before the warranty ran out with no issues.

How is the N55 intercooler (especially in the newer F30 cars) different than the E9x cars? Just dimensions? Cooling capacity?

Just checked the ETS website, and their 5" intercooler for N54 and N55 up to 2012 was the same. I inquired about plans for a unit that would fit 2013 M-Sport Line and am awaiting a reply.
