Question No LED tail lights

just what happened here? why did BMW done away with the LED tail lamps? I would think the LEDs are better for visibilty hence enhanced safety. What do you all think?

I really like the LED tailights that came on the facelifted E46 coupe/m3 and the 6 series. I would assume they continue onto the e90. When I get home tonight im going to read articles on the e90s features and see if it has LEDs or not.. are you sure its not coming with the LEDS ? If not, then you are right, that kinda blows. But maybee they are saving it for the coupe like it is on the e46.

If you're right that they're not standard, I can't figure really think of a reason why

It can't be that much more expensive for BMW to install LED's as standard....

I test drove a 325 yesterday here in Germany and I closely examined the tail lights.. no LED. My guess is it will probably be available in succeeding model year. Kind of suck for us who will order MY06.

The German model 325i is 2.5 as verified on their brochure vs. 3.0 for the US spec model. The test drive was great but I did not have a chance to take it to the twisties since I only had the car for less than an hour plus it was right after work when everyone is on the road. From my observation, the E90 is a much more civilized ride than the E46 but still handles great. I spent a few minutes trying to navigate the idrive and I don't think its complicated at all. Just need to familiarize yourself and set your climate/audio settings then forget about it and control the audio from the steering wheel. The park distance control (PDC) on the German spec model have both front and rear sensors (US gets rear only) and it's neat how the idrive shows a graphical representation of both sensors. Much better than just listening for the beep. You actually see if the object is on the rear right corner and also see the front right. Very helpful in parallel parking here in Europe.

I was not a big fan of the new body style but after driving the 325i.. I'm starting to like it. I love how the straight six just sings.

Lucky you! here in Spain (6th world market for BMW) there're no cars available to test drive, I've visited three different dealers and they tell me that ther're "thinking about it" , what a shame

Have you driven the 320i? I'm in two minds about those two, 5,000 € less expensive, that' s a lot of money. I know, it's a 4 cylinder...

Hi

What did you think of the 325i power. Did you find the car had good acceleration?

the 325i had adequate power but then again it was an auto. I'm waiting for the dealer to get a manual 330i for me to test drive. I'm ready to place my order but would still want to test drive a 6spd 330i before I put my $ down. Will keep you guys posted. Definitely much more quick than my '00 MB C240.

So you're leaning towards a 330i ?

I'm torn between the 325i and 330i. Not having the prices released in Canada doesnt' help!

I'm betting BMW is reserving the LEDs for the facelift version. Just like in the E60 5 series... no LEDs!!!!! They'll have it... eventually... in a few years. To BOOST sales for the half life of the cars.

amazing they were able to keep the E90 US prices so low even with the dollar losing so much value recently.

Hi, I'm new here and just found this forum
nice site; love all the stuff you can find here
doing a great job

about the LED's, the E90 has LED's. It's the 3 stripes in the rearlights, those are LED technology. It's simular to the 3 stripes on the previous 5 series facelift.
