Procede installed wrong, but i fixed it. sorta.

Hello E9XPost! I sent this as a PM to Shiv, but i thought it would be good to post this to see if anyone had more info (he hasnt responded yet).

Heres the message i sent. I added some more info to this message since im on a normal computer now and i can type proficiently

---------------
hey shiv,

i installed my Rev2.5 yesterday night. upon first start, the car started making loud, weird sounds (fuel pump and other things turning on), the engine wouldnt turn over, and there was a loud sucking sound from the fan running behind the radiator. it got very loud and the car wouldnt turn over, and the fan wouldnt stop even after the key was out of the ignition. i panicked, unplugged the Rev2.5 from the harness and the fan and pump/engine sounds stopped. turned out that when i plugged the grey to grey connection on the smaller ecu side (the connectiom with the red wires on one side) i had missed a row of pins, so the entire thing was shifted over a set of pins. i corrected this, started the car, and all was well. i noticed some pretty bad wastegate rattle when i started the car for the first time (after correcting the Procede harness). The exhaust also smelled pretty horrid. Since then, ive cold started it several times, and the wastegate rattle is still slightly worse than stock, but not too much worse, and the exhaust smell is totally gone.

the car has ran fantastic since i corrected it. ive only put probably 20 or so miles on the tune. the car hasnt thrown any codes ( that i know of). aside from the increased wastegate rattle on that first cold start, i havent noticed any errors or problems. am i good to go?

ps- sorry for the sloppy writing, im on my phone at work.

Eric

Ive been driving around with it all day, perfectly fine, and this thing pulls so much stronger than before! Its awesome! I still have to order a serial -> USB cable before i datalog though. Ill be buying one off ebay tonight, and when i get it, i will datalog to make sure im running fine.

So, E9XPost, do you think im fine? I realize i should have double-checked my connections, but it was really late at night and i was in a hurry (didnt expect it to take so long to install, i took it really slow ). I was scared shitless when the fan behind the radiator went full-bore as soon as i tried to turn on the ignition....

If its not throwing codes, the noises have all gone away I would say you are good to go.
Missing stuff when turning isn't recommended obviously, but you live and learn. You seemed to have fixed it so thats a good thing.

Thanks for the reply. I learned my lesson not to rush things when dealing with the DME... It was 11 PM and the gf wanted me to come over. Lets just say my head wasnt doing the thinking

The smell and sound has basically been eliminated, theres no codes, and its pulling strong. Hopefully Shiv will confirm that im okay to continue using it.
