What will be the best route?

In preparation for moving out west where there is no 93 octane, which option do you think will be the best option for performance and fuel consumption?

1. Run the new e85 map with 91 octane mixed with e85.
2. Continue running Stg 2+ aggressive with 91/e85 mix.
3. Get a protune 91/e85 map.
4. Run e85 map with 91 octane and meth
5. Get a protune map for 91 octane and meth.

Thanks in advance.

an occ will solve all your issues. jk
on a serious note, 91 protune sounds good for dd + a e85map for fun runs(i personally am waiting to see consequences from long term e85 use)

Lol, I'm leaning towards a protune map now. I figure I'll keep it simple so I can focus more on my suspension and cosmetics.

I have never done a cost comparison between blends of E85 and just playing pump ACN 91.

But its clear, fuel consumption's rise when running ethanol. As far as price per gallon, haven't done the calcs, but with +- 60 cents cheaper a gallon (Propel e85 pump) you may break even and or just a little under from running 100% ACN 91.

But it will depend on how aggressive your pro tune is. My E50 Pro E-tune with ACN 91, my MPGs are noticeable drop. But my goal was to not worry about MPGs.

but I can imagine a mild Pro E-tune with 100% ACN 91 octane as a daily driver could increase your MPGs, but of course you gotta keep your foot off the gas.

sorry not much hard facts, but if you decide to test out your scenario's please post em'.

oh yeah, it appears option 4 will be your best performance tune, as in most aggressive.

there is no doubt you will have to mix 20% E85 to continue to run your S2+, with available 91 octane. 91 sucks... I am not sure if anyone has tested the new E30 maps with 91 octane.

on a side note, Propel Fuels does not drop E85 to E70 in the winter months here in Cali. They maintain E85 throughout the winter. Well, so that's what the phone rep said.

A lot of good info here. This isn't a daily driver, but I do enjoy seeing good gas mileage when I go on long cruises (how I relax). With that being said, I guess I could sacrifice mpg for power. I'll give PTF a holla after I get settled in Vegas. I read your post and was impressed. You have a few extra ponies over me so I know that PTF are legit.

If fuel consumption is a factor then dont use E85.

That leaves you with the option for protune on 91 octane or protune on 91 octane with meth or just use off the shelf maps for 91 octane.

There's some long, open roads around Vegas. I don't think E85 will give you enough range between fillups for long trips. I'll vote for 91+Meth tune. These cars love the octane bump and cooling effect of alky, especially since it gets hot out there and the freeways have many long climbs into and out of Vegas.
