I hit someone! (Updates)

I had an argument with my gf on the phone =/). The car I hit is a 1999 Honda Civic. The guy recorded my drivers license number/address/and phone number; the police was not involved (at least yet). My question is what kind of penalty etc would I be looking to face? would the insurance company get involved?(can he somehow put that in my driver record since he has my drivers license number?)
I'm kinda panicking at the moment =/

Any opinions/feedbacks would be greatly appreciated!
Reviving my old thread.

I have some news now, the guy(that I hit) called me back yesterday and said he went to a local body shop and they quoted him $285 for some minor scratches and slight dent on the rear bumper. What do you guys think of that price? is it a bit too much for minor bumper scratches/dents? if so, which body shop would you recommend me to go in Scarborough/Markham/North York area?

Also, when I pay for all the damages, should I ask him to sign a paper stating that I paid for the damages and I'm not longer responsible? If so, where can I find a pre-written paper?

Thanks in advance guys!

would need pics.... Without them, who can guess????

$285 sounds cheap though for anything dealing with scratches or dents.

285 sounds like a legit dealer's quote .. And definitly ask him to sign some kinda paper/contract stating that you'll not be responsible for any other damages and that you've paid him that certain amount of money with valid date. Good luck bro

$285 seems reasonable. I would suggest to you that you pay the bill yourself and keep the original copy.

As others have noted $285 is seriously cheap and you're lucky he's not claiming 'soft tissue' damage, etc.

A word of advice: don't try and write the agreement between you and this individual yourself or download something from the web. Have a lawyer draft it, otherwise you're at risk of him taking your money and later deciding that he's owed more. If you don't think it's worth the money to do this, remember that your insurance could go up hugely if it ends up as an at fault claim on your record.
