I am planning to change to 19" wheel once the car is arrived. So I am quite urgent to know how the big wheel affecting the comfort, power and also the fuel consumption.
As the 520i is not very powerful, So I am really worry that will affect a lot.

well, it has been reported that if one switched to 19" and ditch the rft with pss or something, the car rides much better than when it was in its stock form. lots of members have 20" or 21" w regular tires (w/o rft), some with acs springs, some with kw coilovers, most (if not, all) are reported that their cars ride better than when it was in its stock form.. as far as fuel consumption-wise, i'd recommend you to get a set of high quality light weight wheels, such as the one made by volk racing...

Thank you, Imaleke. Most of the bros here are having 528 or more powerful engine to drive the 20inches. That's why i am not sure with the 520i.

The stock wheels are casted and fairly heavy by themselves, coupled with the rfts..... Well, let's just say that lighter-weight 19" with performance non-rfts will be at least equal in weight to stock if not much lighter.

But if you go for BMW 19" casted wheels with rft, then don't bother......

I have 19" BMW casted wheel on my 523. It's good enough for me.

You wouldn't understand what does it mean to have a car with less then 300hp

I am planning to have forged wheel with rft, as I have china registration and the car will go to zhuhai everyday.

no problem... mlai stated correctly.. go with forged wheels (like volks) as they are lighter than stocks... but, you see, no matter how you sliced it your f10 performance would suffer with 20" unless you go with either 19" or 18" forged..

Thank you, I think I will not go for 20", although it looks very nice. My car needs to drive into china and I am worry the 20" thin tyre might not strong enough for china's road condition.

By the way, is it a must to put 275 wide tyre in the rear? this is one of the matter I care, can I put narrow tyre for it. This is a bit stupid, sorry.

simonlam ask your bm salesman to give you the factory dimensions of the tires sizes for 19", and there are only two options for 19", wider rear or four the same, you choose and change them before inspection, and legalized them at once.
i had the same case as yours, i opted 19" for china roads as suggested by the wheels supplier.

Nah, no such thing as a stupid question bro... Anyway, no, I dont think it is a must to have a 275 wide in the rear in your case, but sure looks good though... I'd recommend you to follow f10 xi's (all wheel drive) tire sizes for square set up...

I would say so... as a pointer, you may want to go to bmwusa.com and search for f10's xi square setting

The rear of the non xi version can accommodate the 275 tyres but it doesn't mean you need one. Can use the square setup like 245 all round.

Struggling, I saw a new landed 520i in car park with 19" wheel, looks a bit small. That makes me hesitate....

The F10 is a big car so wheels will look small. Of course bigger wheels will be better but is your call. Don't do what we tell you to do. I use 19" stagger setup myself and I m happy with it despite all the poison being spread here about the 20" wheels

One more thing, if the car is lowered then it will look better because of smaller gap between fenders, maybe that's why the 19 look small in that pic.
