What's the OEM center bore size for BMW rims?

Hi folks

I tried searching in the Sticky section as well as searching but I was not able to find the answer.

What's the center bore size for 2013 wheels or BMW wheels in general

Thanks

Max

Well almost all, a few are 74.1 like the X5 E70, the X6 E71 (front wheels only) and the old 5 series E39.

Does the bore on a replacement rim have to be exactly the same as the OEM rim?

Not necessarily, but ideally yes.

If you purchase a replacement rim with a smaller diameter center bore it will have to be bored out by a machine shop.

If you purchase a replacement rim with a larger diameter you must purchase hub-centric rings (plastic or metal) and install them inside the hub bore of the wheel. Hub-centric rings come in many sizes, but make sure to purchase the correct size for your wheel/car (i.e. if your hub bore is 72.56mm and you purchase wheels with a 74mm hub bore, you must install 74mm to 72.56mm hub-centric rings). If you do not install hub-centric rings, you will likely experience steering wheel shake/vibration at cruising speed due to the wheel not being perfectly centered.

The safest method is to purchase wheels with the correct hub bore as they are a direct fit that won't need any machining or rings. Hope this helps!

I had to bump this old thread. Thanks Apex for confirming what I need to buy...Winter mode in full effect... Thank goodness I found this thread to confirm buying the right ring before mounting the wheels..
