For all those waiting for cars wondering what happens at VPC/VDC.

Here's some extra reading material for those anxiously waiting for their cars. Explains what happens when cars are unloaded off the boats to the VPC/VDC.

Very informative ! I got my 330 I 2 weeks ago. It was spotless !

I 'm a slow lerner, so I take the manuals with me . This car cannot be compared to a $33,000 loaded Maxima, Camary etc. This is a special car !

I am glad that I spent the extra $7000. This car blows away every car that I ever owned.

Worth the wait too !

Great writeup on the VPC/VDC process.

If I could add to that...this site has additional pictures (somewhat dated though) of what happens at a VPC (including pictures of the hohmeire wash facility (removing cosmoline) and a more detailed look at how cars are loaded, secured and unloaded from the auto carrier ships and how they are driven to the VPC.

Very Nice access! Even those of us who work in BMW Centers don't usually get to see these sites!

Anyone remember that one video that shows the actual assemble of a vehicle from start to finish...I saw it a couple years ago, but can't seem to find it anymore. It was almost 15mins long from my memory, and showed each step in detail. Any links?

I think you may be looking for this:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...uration%3Along

but its for e46 though, to the best of my knowledge there is no full length e90 manufacturing video yet.

Is this the East Cost VPC?

I think I may have found the East Cost VPC. Couldn't find any posts with info about the NJ one, but I may not have searched that well.

Take a look:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.681...00229,0.005938

The distinctive car carriers used by BMW are visible, but can't really make out the cars. Some of them are shorter than others, so perhaps those are MINIs.
