Magic date is week 45 for 609

Just to let you all know, my dealer confirmed the new version of the iDrive is coming on stream on cars built from week 45 on.

This only affects Professional Media 609

and only the F30's I believe. F31's will get the new updated Sat Nav (but according to reports, NOT the new iDrive controller (with touch)) from launch (22nd Sept)

Thats the 5th November. So if you ordered a car now and received it in say end of November, would it have the new idrive? Surely a car ordered now would be built in the next couple of months ie before 5th Nov?

Nope - I asked my dealer on Monday and he said if I reordered now, my car wouldn't be delivered until January. I've got a W43 build so will miss out on the new Nav by less than two weeks I'm not re-ordering and waiting another two months though - and the lease prices have shot up since the pre-order deals ended.

But what is actually changing...just a faster processor and gesture things?

Agree, not worth paying £100 more in lease and waiting 2 months!

I'm currently in contact with 2 BMW dealerships about an 330d M Sport and both say they can get one mid Nov, built to a custom spec.

Then surely they're lying to get a sale out of you? I ordered mine weeks ago (15/08) and it's build week 43, delivery to dealer week 46. I was told that production for ... well I'll copy and paste it for you:

Quote:
The New Professional Navigation system becomes available from week 45 production onwards.
Unfortunately, all production on 330d M Sports is at capacity, which means that if he wanted the New Professional Navigation System he wouldn't see his car until January 2013, however, all vehicles through the Network campaign must be registered this year. It's not as easy as asking the factory to delay production on his current vehicle, we would need to order an entire new car.

Its seems odd – my local dealer told me initially Feb. But then another dealer told me mid Nov. Now my local dealer has said they can deliver for Nov too now.

I’m not that fussed but one key thing for me is that both dealers told me that they can honour the part ex price given to me last week for when the car is delivered in Nov. Provided I get this in writing and if it gets delayed till next year then I still get a good part ex price.

I cancelled my order today

But ordered it again .............don't ask

Anyhooo, my dealer said they had a 'six cylinder' slot in October that they could allocate to me, but that would not be new iDrive build.

I said No, I want a week 45-on build. Predicted date is 15/12.

When I asked what 'six cylinder slot' meant.....he said most dealers have cars on order, many un-sold that would come in as demonstrators. If a customer orders in time they have the option of allocating that car to the customer.

Eeeeenteresting. Imma open a can of whoopass on Knights tomorrow then. The lying bastards told me I couldn't reorder a 330D M Sport and expect delivery before 2012. And you've gone and done it today!

I can feel me a small falling out brewing

FIGHT---FIGHT---FIGHT!!!!

Salesmen tell you what works for them......anyway you can swap your 2013 slot with mine, I wouldn't mind having a 2013 car.

The company i got the lease from are now saying 12 weeks (it was 8 weeks when i ordered - IF i changed the spec as would have to order a new one.

So i guess if the dealer has a spare/demo slot you can a change spec and move to that slot. If they don't, you would loose your place if you changed the spec.

Any details re the new sat nav? What is enhanced? The lot I hope as my e92 2009 prof nav is clunky and quite dated.

HD telly, a bit faster, with better graphics. Some 3D city maps......and I guess better platform for upgrades in the future. This last bit being the key for me......as typically, once a new version of something is out, they stop development on the old version.

I was sent a PDF from the dealer on what the new one can do......sure it must be available on line somewhere (?!?!?).

The main thing I'm gutted about is that it has vastly improved connectivity for office and tings on the iPhone.

Just been told my car is coming 12-13 Dec

So, the only plus I can see from this - would mine therefore get built after weekd 45?

I expect so. I'm built W43 and delivered to the dealer on W46 (12th Nov onwards) so if your dealer delivery is a month later then your build must be after the W45 cut-off

Sounds like it yes, unless it is built in South Africa and is sitting on a ship for 6 weeks....

The date may come in earlier - so have asked for the build week. What on earth am I going to do until Dec? Have been driving around in a crappy hire Astra and I already have had enough
