Custom exhausts...
Getting my car mapped within the next week, but been thinking for a while about changing the exhaust.
Was thinking along the lines of a 335d setup with slightly bigger (not abhorrent) exhaust tips. This makes sense doing this before the map, as the exhaust can be factored in. So now my request... Can those of you that have changed your exhaust please post up so I can get some ideas please. ISC (Warrior) in Ipswich might be able to squeeze me in tomorrow afternoon. Thanks guys, Mart. |

It's gonna be a Powerflow system so I can have whatever I want. I'm leaning towards the 335d style at the mo, don't want it to look 'chav', just smart.
Looks like exhaust Next Tuesday, and I'm ringing Imran in a sec to book map for next Wednesday *edit* yep, cars all booked expensive but good week next week Last edited by Mart1000; 08-21-2012 at 11:22 AM.. |

Bigger bored pipe & straight through exhaust is your best bet Mart.
Forget silencers, they are unlikely to do anything for the sound, and will only dull any performance increase by restricting the flow of exhaust gases escaping. Straight through will reduce spool up time on the turbo, which reduces the lag often found on the single turbo engine, the engine will also rev more freely, and reach the red line that little bit quicker. My system (as above) is good for at least 15BHP so coupled with a remap I'd suggest you'll be looking at 300+BHP,which is 335D munching territory Go for either dual 4" S/steel tips (single pipe exit) or the same for twin pipe exit as per the M3,or 2 x 4" S/steel tips as per 335D (might be cheaper as you'll just need a diffuser for a 335D)

Mate I was just about to pm you as I did a search on exhausts
You didn't attach a pic, do you have any? Right, so all I want is the pipe, no silencers? will it make it too loud in the cabin? |

The 335D normally comes with 3 silencers, two on each pipe at the rear, along with a central box, this OEM system resides by the side of my summerhouse along with the weeds The system on my car is as I described above,no silencers whatsoever, and a bigger bored pipe from the DPF back, coupled to 2 x 4" S'steel tips. The noise in the cabin is in no way intrusive, the only time it sounds drony is when the rear seats are folded down. Go for it,and stick a 318D badge on the back

Ok mate thanks for the advice. Looking forward to the pics
I would prefer it though if the cutout on my m sport diffuser was set more into the middle of the car, mine are the usual 330d ones right to the edge. I think twins look better sat in from the edge a bit. Gonna check eBay and see if theres anything on there quickly... |

Liking that! Thanks mate. The cut-outs on the diffuser on the coupes seem much further in than on the e90/91, which is a good thing.
I'll see what they come up with next week thanks again. Mart. |

I would go for the 335 setup with the cyba 4inch tips, change the look of the rear end completely and fill the diffuser alot better.
Hotcoupe- Did you colour code your OEM diffuser before you changed it?

Nice
Does anyone know if I can get a different diffuser that will fit an e90, with the cut out/outs much further towards the centre? I've just watched a vid on YouTube a guy on there has done what I want but the cut outs look all wrong. |
