GAP & Tyre Insurance
Now things are getting close I've had some leaflets through from my dealer with information about BMW GAP and Tyre Insurance.
Although there are no prices quoted, does anyone have any idea how much these would cost and if they're worth it? Any recommendations for alternatives?

For my 318d, and from memory as I declined them, GAP was £749 (I kid you not) and tyre insurance was either £299 or £399 (I think the former).
I declined both because: 1) GAP can be had far cheaper elsewhere. I get my cover through Lombard, who provide monthly Return to Invoice cover for about £12 a month for my Mini. Bizarrely, it used to be cheaper for my E93 convertible (£10 a month) and I haven't changed it over to my F30 yet. 2) Tyre insurance doesn't cover wear and tear and is likely to have a number of 'get out' clauses for the dealer, so really it only covers punctures and you'd need to have an above average number of them to break even. Like all insurance, whether you are willing to pay depends on your attitude to risk.

Sounds like there is no standard rate for GAP and the dealership can offer it for pretty much whatever they think they can get away with! I'll see what they say when I pick the car up but from a quick Google there are plenty of alternatives in the £200-£300 bracket so I'll use that as a bargaining tool. If they offer me something too good to turn down I reckon I'll go for it.
Tyre insurance I'm not so sure about. It seems run flats are more prone to punctures and unlikely to be repaired so one puncture and it sounds like it pretty much pays for itself, however I haven't had a puncture for a very long time. The other BMW drivers I know who have run flats also haven't had punctures so is it as problematic? Knowing me though I'll probably go for them both as long as the price is right
