Good Question,
unfortunately you cant mirror you playing youtube vid on your iphone to the iDrive. The only way you could play video on the iDrive is to download the youtube video and sync it to your iPhone. Good Luck` |

How about directly via the car's own internet browser?

In the UK & Germany you can have the Internet option that uses a SIM in the car itself. The option only costs £95 ($150) and includes a 3 year subscription.
I haven't got my car yet but I think it's 3G. It's basically an in car browser.

Here in Brazil we don't have the option that comes with a built-in SIM 3g card, instead i'm able to connect idrive to the internet using personal hotspot(iPhone), and access youtube.

Car's own internet browser? What? I got all the tech options on my 328ix last month, and haven't found this.
Is it not available in the US? (I have a tetherable iPhone, if that helps.) |

Internet connectivty with YouTube
I have a BMW 435i with connected drive and internet access through the extra cost service; I have not been able to play a youtube video even though I can access the web site using the car's browser. What must I do to get the video to play; Sometimes I get an error message saying there is not enough memory, even though I have really not used the browser for anything up to this point. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a 2014 328i with Tech package; with that came several years (think it's 4) of BMW OnLine. I can use google local search, either by voice or using the iDrive controller, but not full Internet; to do that you have to pay an additional annual fee to BMW Assist -- and all you can do is use the browser when not moving.
As for playing video from any device that connects thru USB, think there is one or items you have to code to get that working -- haven't tried it yet
