the only ones i seen from MARS that look presentable is the new LCI-style ones... smoked or red...

other than that, i would say ZOMK speed ones (cause that's what i have) because they're all LED except the brake light bulbs (which you can get red LED lamps for them). The color(s) are placed weird so i threw some exterior tint film over them and they turned out excellent but if you're not into the murdered look, you probably wont like.
I tried to get a link for you to the ZOMK vendor on ebay but i think they went out of business - so i'm thinking i have the only advertised set, not certain though.

i discovered, via google, that if you search "ZOMK Speed tail lights E90" a bunch of my videos and threads pop up and no one else's... lol interesting.

When I was travelling through Asia I saw a lot of stuff like that on weird no-name taxi cars. I wouldn't put them on BMW, and whoever designed them should be smacked on the head.

I believe that blacklines would be better way to go if you're thinking of buying new tail lights.
