D1S bulbs 6000K Vs 8000K

My D1S bulbs came in today and I got 8000K bulbs instead of the 6000K bulbs I ordered (Easy mistake)...seller will return them....no issues there. My questions is this, I know the 8000K has more color to them and less light output but how much less? I dont want you look like a ricer with crazy blue lights LOL!! I have heard the cheaper bulbs have blue on the actual bulb and those are the crazy blue ricer bulbs (My bulbs pictured below look to be high quality). I do not want to be hassled by the cops constantly, for those of you who have these do you like them?? Any regrets? Should I just get the 6,000K?

I really wouldn't do it. I ran 6700k's for a while to match my OSS rings, but I couldn't take the low light output at night and in rain. I swapped back to my 4300k stocks, I can only imagine 8000k would be alot worse. The color on the 6700k's was white with a blue tint.

Anything over 6,500 I think is too much of a blue 'ricer' tint.

Seller is being great, letting me try them out...if I do not like them I can swap them for the 6,000K. The blue will match my montego blue car LOL!! J/K

i had 10,000k on my prowler.
never realized how bad the output was until i went back to 5500K.
FYi the blue on the actual bulb is only on halogen bulbs, not xenons.
8000K shouldnt be too bad.
i personally think 5500-6000K is the best output vs color.
white with a tid-bit of blue at certain angles.
im waiting on my 6000K for the E93 as we speak

Agreed 100 percent with above.
8000k would be too close to those annoying ass blue Civic HID bulbs. I wouldn't.

Stupid question, would I be able to see the road better with the 8,000K Vs say the OEM?

I mean things will pop on the road due to the contrast of the light but I still think 6000K is the best lumens versus visibility.
Good luck.

No, 4300k OEM will be the brightest. I would say 5000k is the whitest color of them all.

I see...the 8000 have more color in the bulb wich in a sense makes them have less out-put. I guess I will have to install them to see how they look....these install right below where the angel eyes install I am guessing...probably a compartment. I installed the angel eyes easily.

Well the numbers represent temps in Kelvin, which translates to color in the real world, not brightness. 4300k is brightest always. Here is a good pic showing a comparison on the road:

That is a great pic and should be a sticky! I don't see a "big" difference between the 6000K Vs 8000K but I see a bigger difference between the 4300K and all the rest.

Sorry. I don't think that picture is accurate and looks Photoshopped.

This is a better picture and what I used to make my decision.

Not sure this one is legit or not either. I think both give the OP the general idea.

At least with the picture I posted, you can see the difference in light output by looking at the walls. The other picture shows no difference in output.

I'm trying to help, but I don't care what other people purchase.

8000k is really blue. Your visibilty will be impared with a bulb which Kelvin rating is that high; plus you'll look like some HS kid in his "hooked" up Civic.

What's better than a hooked up Civic? ANY BMW.

I put these into see if I like them and there is not much blue at all, more white than anything....I had my buddy drive my car down the road and they just appeared brighter with a bit of blue? Doesn't look bad at all, not ricey like I thought they would.

Great to hear, our 8k bulbs are more white and our 6k bulbs have a little yellow in them however any customer can test out for them selfs and if they don't like we will swap for no charge at all. We back up our products 100 percent.

I have 6000k and their pretty nice and have a nice light output still. Anything above 6000k in my opinion would look tacky... just my 2 cents.
