BMW Carpet Mats and Rubber don't align

Hi
I have the factory carpet mats with the velcro bottoms.

I just got the rubber ones today with the hooks that replace the velco screws to the floor carpet .

they don't match at all. I don't wnat to make new holes for the hooks, yet,
the part persons said the suppose to be a direct replacement.

Un-screw the velcro and screw in the hooks and install the rubber mats...

NO NO NO...

Anyone else have this problem...

I thought the rubber ones used hooks not velcro. the hooks go on the bottom do go in a different place. I usually don't even put the hooks in... the rubber itself holds them in place.

OK that was the answer, the hook ones need a new hole made. Shame they did not use the same hole as the velcro ones.

I did not make any new holes,,,I just placed the mats in and left them
I hope they don't shift around.

you'll be fine... I haven't had any sliding around... the rubber is grippy enough as it is.

Why lose sleep over new holes? They are covered by the mat so you won't see them anyways.

I bought some industrial velcro and used one side and stuck it to the mats, works like the carpet ones now.. great and no holes

FYI, I use the same holes for both the rubber mats (which use the hooks) and the carpeted mats (which use the Velcro), and they fit fine. The tech that did the holes probably did not align correctly, but like others have suggested, the rubber mats shouldn't move around anyways

I bought rubber mats late last year (October, November maybe) for my e90 and they use velcro, no hooks.

^ I think there are two types of rubber mats, one's got deeper groves while the other one less so. Maybe each mat has a different securing option?

Babe, I have the deeper ones too, and they use the hook, and in my car, they go into the same attachment holes as the velcro pads
