HID into Halogen Projector with Levelling

I've just finished installing a Philips CAN-BUS compatible HID system. It tested OK using the "welcome light" feature, but when I actually started the car and ran it for a few minutes the error came up and the lights were cycled on and off slowly.

Of course I'm really disappointed that BMW lock the car down like this. We would have ordered Bi-Xenons but we needed to buy before 30 June, and the stock available left us making significant compromise on what we wanted. I was amazed how bad the standard halogens were having had Bi-Xenons in our E90.

Anyway, I thought I'd chosen the best product and would be posting a great "how to" instead of this email, which is instead a call out for any information which could assist. I'd love to hear a success story... has anyone successfully installed an HID upgrade on an F10 or F11?

Cheers,
Steve

I've upgraded only my fog lights to HIDs with success. No errors whatsoever. I personally wouldn't toy with the headlights.

I had bad luck with mine. The HID kit eventually blew my "footwell module". Mine is completely back to standard now. I will make sure my next car has xenon lights. I cant believe that BMW actually brought out the 5 series with such terrible lights. Xenon should be standard.

Ooops... I should have updated this thread ages ago. I found out the Philips HID kit I bought in Perth was counterfeit Fortunately the shop owner took them back, so I was pretty lucky really.

Cheers,
Steve

Did you install an original Philips kit? Or just go back to standard?
