Time between production and delivery

My car is a week 34 build (8/19-25) and I pick up my car in Munich on 9/1. So theoretically my car could be 1 week old when I get to drive it. Seems really soon. Will the paint be fully cured?

Paint from the factory is fully cured, you can detail it the second you take delivery

It seems like they're running somewhat ahead of schedule - your car may get picked up for production in week 33 or 32...

A week is fine.I am sure you wouldn't like your car with xx miles / km to be delivered

It's all just in time production these days and avoiding to have huge piles of inventory sitting around (cars & parts). There's also really no longterm storage at the Welt so they have to move inventory quickly.

Some might remember the time when some of the suppliers went on strike and BMW run out of parts for cars to be build within a few days ....

How did you find out your week build for ED? Are we supposed to have updates by now? I haven't checked in a while.

There is a new process. It's first come first serve for deliveries. They are not honoring the pickup times on the emails they sent

They are going to have one line and will allow people to line up starting at 10pm the night before. Hopefully they don't run out of cars!

So I was told by the finance manager, at my dealer, that I need to have all the financing paperwork completed at least two weeks before 9/1. This puts the date of paperwork completion no later than 8/18. Since paperwork cannot be completed without a VIN, I am hoping that production starts a little early.

Yep same with me. That is the last thing to do before we pick up our beasts. I have not put down a dime yet.

I got confirmation today that I too am a Week 34 build (8/19-8/25). Its my understanding that VIN's dont get created until the car starts to build. If doing ED the buyer needs to complete all the paperwork two weeks prior to delivery. So if I have a 9/1 pickup that would mean my paperwork would have to be completed by 8/18. Cant do the paperwork until VIN is generated. With a week 34 build that would put the VIN on the 19th, at the earliest. It almost seems like the chicken and egg, which came first. So I hope that BMW has thought about this and is true to their current early build's of the F10 M5.

The later we do the paperwork the better as far as I'm concerned. Paperwork is already done really. It's the paying that I'd like to delay ;-)

Agreed. I was speaking of the financing paperwork etc. My finance person at the dealer told me no later than two weeks prior to pickup. Just wanting to make sure there are no issues
