I think this question really only goes out to the 8speed auto owners....I'm not sure the manual trans grunts between shifts.

Ok all you guys and gals , that have modded the flap on te exaust or upgraded to m performance or some other aftermarket exhaust, did you notice that grunt/burp kind of diminish? I did after I removed the spring on the flap valve and it hardly grunts in comfort now. It still does it in sport but the RPMS have to be higher now.

Just wondering how much that flap valve contributed to that little grunt noise?

Audi b8 s4 does this also with the dct trans but it sounds more like a fart...

I have the M Performance exhaust. Grunt/burp is more pronounced with it

How did you remove the spring? Does removing the spring keep the flap open or closed?

It's very easy, just take a pair of pliers and squeeze the little spring and it comes right out. The flap actually will flop around and make rattling noise. You have to use wire to secure it in the open position.
