1)If I plug my iPod in the glove box USB with the apple white cable will I get to control it through iDrive and will I get album art?

2) I assume I will be able to sync my phone over bluetooth and answer phones through the steering wheel but will I be able to access my contact list for outgoing calls?

3) will I get any form of voice command? If so is the for phone and nav or for other things as well?

4) What do the 2 grades of docking cable add if anything?

5) Any cool features I may not be aware of?

Thanks.

I've just taken delivery of a 328i Luxury with the Media package - BMW Professional Multimedia, but only had it a day so here goes...

I think all you can use the glovebox USB for is to import/export music, profiles or nav destinations to/from the car. To control your iPod you'd need to use the Audio USB interface in the armrest. I've plugged my 80Gb iPod Classic into the armrest USB and I have full control over it from the iDrive, and yes the album artwork shows on the car's display.

Yes, I have paired my iPhone 4S with the car and you can answer incoming calls by touching a button on the steering wheel. You can also see your contact list via iDrive for outgoing calls, plus you can actually program one or more of the 8 buttons on the stereo fascia as 'shortcuts' for dialling favourite phone numbers. Best bet though is to check out http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...eck_intro.html for a full list of what features are available for your phone.

Yes, you can do all manner of things via voice control... enter nav destinations, make calls, call up car settings, search the built-in user guide, control radio/CD, even add a new contact to your phone book. If you go to this link - http://cache.bmwusa.com/pdf_f7be0eac...d-33e5debb749a you can get the online version of the US Owners Handbook in PDF format. Page 306 onwards shows you all the voice commands - I'm sure they're pretty much the same for the UK.

Not sure. I've only used the standard Apple USB-30pin cable to attach my iPod (i.e. I've not used a Y-cable), but the standard cable seems to give me all the control I need over the iPod.
EDIT - ah you said cradle/ In that case I don't know as I've not gone for a cradle (yet).

Yeah... your neighbours will be jealous!

If you have an iPhone, check out the BMW Connected Drive and BMW Remote apps in the app store.

Consider: Cruise control with 'stop & go' function. This is an extra item.

According to p194 in the UK Owners Handbook - The video image is shown on the front control display up to a speed of approximately 3 km/h, 2 mph. In some countries, it is only shown with the parking brake engaged or in gear position P.

There is however a thread about (re)coding the car to overcome this limitation - http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696777 . There is also a thread about 'DVDinmotion' - http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=670237 - and it looks like all 2012 BMW models are supported.
