Angry ISSUE: Wheel center cap keeps popping out!

Has this happened to anyone? When I park the rear passenger side wheel center cap pops out onto the ground. It has happened a few times until one day it popped out at work and a co-worker saw it and placed it on my car for me to see it when leaving. I did not, I guess the wind took it or something.

What a bummer. Another thing I'll have to start monitoring I guess.

If you drive a car truly hard, with a lot of hard braking, the wheels can heat to the point that plastic center caps can deform and fall out. Thus, I tell people at the track to pop out the center caps before running.

I've never checked the center caps on an F30 but this is a possible explanation.

That's what I was thinking too, contraction and expansion.

Not so much physical changes with temperature, but actually heating the plastic cap to the point it deforms just enough that it will not stay in. It is a common problem on tracked street cars.

been there done that with my ex E90 M3 on a trackday a few years ago. In the pitlane the front centre caps just popped out because of the overheated brakes/wheels.

Cheers

That's probably why caps are not allowed on the track. If one falls on the road the next car will have a nice spin out.

Happening to my car too. Rear passenger 2013 f30 335ix. No obvious reason why. (No tracking or hard breaking).
