vibration issue but they don't care

Hello,

I posted my problem about the vibration on steering wheel @ 40-65 before. Today, I visited the service center again to fix this problem (this is 3rd time). Well, after test drive with technisian, he kept saying ..

1. this vibration is normal and it is the way to be designed to have those road feeling? at 40 - 60mph,

2. he tested about 30 cars (F30 328i) and all cars have the same vibration.

3. only one solution is put 18'' instead of 17'', then it will go away.

4. there is nothing he can do about it.

I mentioned this is NOT normal there are many F30 328i owners whose don't have this problem.. The technisian told me "find one car or vin number with no vibration issue, then I will say your car has something wrong and I wll try to fix"

So.. I had to bring back my car again without any solution...... I am sick and tired about this issue... They just don't care about my car...

I will keep contacting BMWNA and see what happen.

It would be great if you are willing to help me with this problem (I am living in Atlanta, GA).

I'm sorry to hear this. If I lived nearby I would join you to that dealer to show him my car has absolutely no vibration issues but seeing how I am several thousands of miles away, I wont be of much help unfortunately.

I do hope you will find someone soon so you can sort this issue with that dealer.

Have you tried taking it to a different BMW Service Center? Maybe another technician/SA will be more receptive to fixing the problem than this guy.

You need to speak to the service manager, not the service adviser. Additionally, mention to them that you will leave negative feedback to BMWNA during the service survey. Hope this helps.

Same here. I'd tell them, "YOU go find another car that doesn't vibrate." I tell you, service these days is in the crapper. No wonder our country is falling behind.

It would be funny if the op took a new Audi a4 for a test drive and then picked up the SA to show him a car that doesnt vibrate. HA

Yes, I have, but that Service Center was more worse... they said that you need to go to the place where you puchased it.

I had a great expectation before purchasing my car, but very disappointed now.

Can you take a video of the vibration and post it here?

I second that, I'd like to see this infamous wheel vibration so I can know if mine has it right away.

Just had my car in for the third time with this issue.

They road force balanced the tires and said it had little-to-no affect. They submitted a "PUMA TC" case and was told by BMWNA that the engineers are working on it, as others have mentioned.

I'm debating starting the lemon process... I love the car otherwise, but to be honest, I just really feel that an expensive car like this shouldn't vibrate more than my 2008 MINI Cooper (which had no vibration at all throughout the entire 4 years and nearly 50,000 miles I had it).

Why should we settle for vibrating, earlier-build-date cars when the newer ones are less likely to vibrate?

If BMWNA isn't willing to replace the steering mechanism with the newer one, then it's their problem, not mine.

Does anyone else agree? Am I crazy? Should I just keep paying almost $600 a month for a car that isn't perfect?

Does a vibration in the steering wheel qualify for the lemon law in your state? I know it doesnt in MA.

I'm not sure, as I haven't really looked into it yet. I live in Florida.

What little I've read says basically anything that significantly impacts the overall drive ability and/or value of the car, which I would say is subjective. I'm sure anyone could argue any particular flaw falls into those categories.

Make sure they balanced the wheels only with the tires unmounted first.

My BMW servivce center fixed the problem by doing this. They said balancing the wheels with tires on did not correct the problem. Had to do it after balancing just the wheels with tires off.

Hope this helps?

Has there been a change in the steering for later-build cars? Is there any reason to believe a later-build car would be better?

Not that I know.. many of the cars from the first months, like my own (early Feb) have no issues at all.

That doesnt make sense, just balancing the wheels. It's not like every tire on a car is perfect.

No. Wheels first. Then wheels with tires.
